Shrines of Love and Grief Pottery Workshop

In Spain and South America, traditional altars (nichos) are displayed at home with memorial objects, photos, flowers and honoring gifts to loved dead ones. There is solace in celebration and remembrance. There is a bittersweet joy in creating a small ceremony or ritual to honour those who have left.

Kit and Maria will take you through the process of designing, hand building, decorating and finishing your clay shrine in a supportive environment. You will learn about nichos, make objects to put in them and create a personalised secular ritual to honour your loved ones.
