Repair Café

  • Free
  • Workshop

Bring along one small item to be repaired for free – see below for a list of items that can be repaired. Or come and have a chat with the skilled Makerspace staff to learn more about what you can do in the Makerspaces.

They will be able to repair the following items:

• Clean clothing that needs a small mend – a tear, missing button, popped seam
• Items with small loose screws, e.g. glasses
• Items that need to be glued to be repaired
• Clean clothing that has a small stain that you would like to cover with a vinyl decal
• Belts that need additional holes

Make sure items are clean, clothing is laundered and items are appropriate to bring to a public space. If you are not sure if your item is able to be repaired, bring a photo and they can discuss their larger range of repair solutions at the Makerspace. They cannot repair items that are dangerous, soiled or inappropriate. They are not repairing/soldering electronics at this repair cafe.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
