Matinees at ACMI Cinemas

  • Family and kids
  • Film

Matinee sessions run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout spring with new films beginning every fortnight.

During spring, the matinees program has a pronounced factual thread binding everything together. National Geographic’s new documentary Sally reveals the personal and professional life of the first American woman in space: Sally Ride. Yurlu | Country documents the mining industry’s horrendous impact on country in the Pilbara.

There’s plenty of room for escapism, too. Journey to Zambia for Rungano Nyoni’s Cannes favourite On Becoming a Guinea Fowl, to southern India for Tiger’s Pond and to the Snowy Mountains with the new 4K restoration of Cate Shortland’s Somersault.

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of Billy Wilder’s classic Hollywood tragi-noir Sunset Boulevard, again beautifully restored in 4K.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
