Australian artist and dancer, Vali Myers, was known for her free-thinking artistry, bohemian life and was considered a muse to many.
In partnership with Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA), State Library Victoria’s second iteration of Love and Art will go beyond the canvas and explore the creative legacy of Myers.
The evening begins with a screening of The Tightrope Dancer (1989), Ruth Cullen’s intimate documentary capturing Myers’ life, artistic process and uncompromising creative worldview. Followed by a panel interview unpacking the contemporary influence of Myers’ work.
Doors will open from 6.30pm where you are invited to explore the Library’s latest exhibition Rebel Heart: Love Letters and other declarations, featuring Vali Myers’ love letters.
Presented by State Library Victoria with Monash University Museum of Art | MUMA.
