Fashion History Trunk Show: Party Wear and Care

  • Workshop
  • Events

Touch history for yourself at the Fashion History Trunk Show, an intimate experience where heritage and haute style converge.

Led by the curator, this exclusive session reveals rarely seen party wear from the National Trust’s Fashion and Costume Collection. Normally kept in storage, these garments are brought out for a rare ‘white-glove’ encounter, allowing guests to examine their construction, wear and care up close.

Explore why these pieces were kept, what memories they hold, and how signs of wear become part of their story. Enjoy light refreshments on arrival, time to wander through the Party Hard – After the Party exhibition, followed by an hour-long guided exploration of garments that shaped lives and celebrations.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
