Designed and built to minimise environmental impact and maximise indoor air quality, East Melbourne Library is an ecologically sustainable public library.

As well as collections and programs for adults and children, the library is home to a community garden with herbs and seasonal produce, and bee hives provided by Melbourne City Rooftop Honey.
