AlterCOP 30: Sustainable City Walking Tour

  • Free
  • Walking tour

This engaging two-hour walking tour highlights key projects and initiatives that are transforming Melbourne into a more liveable, resilient and sustainable city.

The walking tour starts at narrm ngarrgu Library (library entrance) near Queen Victoria Market and will finish at Treasury Gardens, weaving throughout central Melbourne.

As part of the tour, you will explore how population growth and adaptive reuse of office buildings breathed new life into Postcode 3000.

Throughout the tour, learn about recent projects that are enhancing energy performance and driving electrification across both public and private buildings.

From laneway greening to lush green walls and rooftop gardens, explore how the City of Melbourne is tackling the urban heat island effect while boosting biodiversity and biophilia, and visit a newly installed neighbourhood-scale battery system.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
