History and Donuts Walking Tour

  • Tour
  • Walking tour

Come along for the History and Donuts Walking Tour – 2.5 hours of Melbourne’s rich past paired with delicious donuts. Perfect for curious minds and sweet tooths, this tour blends fascinating stories with mouth-watering treats.

Starting at Federation Square, explore landmarks like Young & Jackson’s Hotel, St Paul’s Cathedral, and the vibrant street art of Hosier Lane. After a quick coffee break in Centre Place, head through the grand Collins Street financial precinct, passing historic sites like the Mitre Tavern.

From there, the tour visits Hardware Lane and makes the first donut stop at Short Stop, famous for gourmet flavours like brown butter maple and Earl Grey rose. Wander through Guildford Lane’s hidden red-brick charm before arriving at Queen Victoria Market for one last donut.

The tour carries on to Old Melbourne Gaol and finishes at the State Library Victoria. History, culture, and donuts – the perfect Melbourne mix.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
