Newman College commemorates the 150th anniversary of visionary architect Walter Burley Griffin. Beneath the Newman Dome, enjoy canapés, an exceptional dinner, fine wines and inspiration.
Griffin Illustrated celebrates Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony through music conducted by Professor Sir Jonathan Mills AC, accompanied by Dome light projections by Ian de Gruchy. Originally commissioned for the 1996 Adelaide Festival, Ethereal Eye is an immersive musical tribute to the Griffins’ architectural vision, reimagined for this performance.
Performers include Synergy Percussion, Jane Edwards (soprano), Nigel Crocker (trombone and conch) and Sir Jonathan Mills (microtonal piano). Originally recorded for ABC Classics in 1997, the work features specially designed instruments and sound production by a talented creative team.
Celebrate the Griffins’ legacy while supporting the preservation of Newman College’s architectural heritage.
