Join a multicultural celebration of the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and passing in the heart of Melbourne. The Victorian United Nations Day of Vesak brings together diverse communities to honour this sacred occasion through ceremony, contemplation and friendship.

Offerings to the monastic Sangha in a spirit of generosity and gratitude.

12:15pm - Procession and Friendship Walk - Parliament Gardens Reserve to Melbourne Town Hall
Walk together in harmony and peace, celebrating shared values of compassion and non-violence.

1:45pm - Vesak Commemoration at Melbourne Town Hall
Veneration of Buddha relics, traditional chanting, guided meditation, blessings and messages from VIP guests.

Discover a magnificent 9 x 15 metre 21 Tara Thangka painting, accompanied by guided meditations throughout the day at Melbourne Town Hall.
