Thursday Linguas Melbourne Language Exchange and Social

  • Talk
  • Activity

Linguas Language Exchange Social meets weekly to talk in languages.

This group of people from a variety of different countries gathers every week to chat, meet new people, and practise speaking another language.

The group indicates what languages they speak or want to practise with flag stickers from over 150 countries. The first flag is your native language and this goes at the right, with the rest following in order or ability. The group is open to all nationalities and languages and you can talk about anything you like. You don't have to be an advanced speaker, or even speak a second language – everyone at any language level is welcomed.

When you arrive, show your purchased ticket to the flag desk to collect your flag badges, tell them what languages you speak and they'll get you started. Participants are asked to buy a drink at the bar to support the organisers before going to the flag desk.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
