The Best Films You've Never Seen: Jaws

  • Film
  • Entertainment

RMIT University kicks off 'The Best Films You've Never Seen' 2026 season with Jaws (M, 1975), the film that launched the blockbuster era, returning to the big screen at The Capitol - RMIT. Ticket prices are seriously retro too, to ensure everyone can come.

Fifty years after its original release, Stephen Spielberg's razor-sharp thriller, starring Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw, remains as nerve-jangling as ever. Adapted from Peter Benchley's best-selling novel and incorporating John Williams' iconic score, the film is a masterclass in suspense, proving that what we don't see is just as terrifying as what's on screen. Jaws went on to define the contemporary Hollywood blockbuster.

A RMIT cinema studies academic will open the screening, explaining the film's historical significance and how it shaped cinema.

For long-time fans or curious first‑timers, experience Jaws on the grand scale it deserves at RMIT's Capitol cinema.
