The Firestation Print Studio collaborated with Kate Gorringe-Smith to develop this project for printmakers across Australia to draw inspiration from an abundant range of Australian native pollinators, drawing attention to species which are crucial for both agriculture and natural ecosystems to be sustained and to thrive. The resulting prints feature in an immersive installation that coincides with Australian Pollinators Week.
The exhibition displays approximately 100 works by 50 artists featuring Australia’s most elegant and industrious native birds, mammals and insects. The artists have employed a vast array of printmaking techniques that capture the intricate details of miniscule insects, expressive movements of soaring birds, and the soft furs of timid mammals.
Opening night celebration is Thursday 6 November, 5pm-7pm.
