Join for a Summer Family Art Day celebrating ACCA exhibiting artist Tourmaline’s children’s book One Day in June, charting the life and activism of Marsha P. Johnson. Participants will make collaborative sculptures, puppets and costumes inspired by the characters in Tourmaline’s children's book. Bring a rug and a picnic and join for family art making, a story time with Tourmaline, and perhaps even an impromptu fashion parade.
This Family Art Day is in conjunction with the current exhibition Tourmaline: Transcendent. Tourmaline is an American artist, filmmaker and writer whose work is at the intersection of activism and fine art. Her photography, film work and research explore celebrated historical figures, to create work that strives to make sense of broader issues facing LGBTIQA+ communities.
Suits ages 3–10 years, bring your own picnic and blanket. All families are welcome.
This is an outdoor event at the park next to ACCA. More details will be provided closer to the event.
