Donkey Wheel House

  • Landmark
  • Historic

Built for the Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Company in 1891, Donkey Wheel House is a superb example of Venetian Gothic architecture. The building’s flamboyant style is a reminder of the importance of Melbourne's early tramways system.

Today the building houses a community of socially aligned organisations that are seeking to address some of society’s biggest challenges in innovative, entrepreneurial, financially sustainable and collaborative ways.

Drop into the social enterprise Kinfolk Cafe on the ground floor for a coffee and to hear about the development projects the cafe support.
