The Paperback Bookshop is an independent, well-stocked bookshop that has been at the top end of Bourke Street since the 1960s.

In stock you'll find the latest new releases and classic titles of fiction, history, poetry, kids’ books, cultural affairs and travel.

The Paperback has broadened its charter over the years to now sell hardbacks too, but it still specialises in having a good selection of local and overseas books of interest for a broad but discerning audience.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
