The Moat

The Moat is a bar and restaurant located in the basement of the city’s literary hub, the State Library of Victoria. A charming courtyard allows for outdoor dining and drinking, or head into the indoor dining room surrounded by books and bluestone walls.

The menu reflects the Italian heritage of its owners, Paul and Rosie. Together, they have created authentic dishes with seasonal local produce, simplicity and love.

Come along to Wednesday Gnocchi Night and enjoy your choice of three dishes featuring handmade gnocchi, served with a salad and a glass of wine.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
