Boonchoou

  • Restaurant
  • Casual dining

Tucked away in a small Melbourne laneway, Boonchoou isn’t your typical Thai restaurant. The team come from different parts of Thailand, each carrying childhood memories and family recipes that inspire every dish. Some are flavours they grew up with; others are dishes discovered through journeys across the country.

You’ll find familiar favourites like green curry and pad Thai alongside regional dishes rarely found outside Thailand, such as grilled fish curry with young banana, stir-fried coconut noodles with prawns, or slow-grilled pork belly over charcoal with roasted chilli tamarind sauce.

Every plate is prepared with sincerity and care, offering the warmth of Thai hospitality and a taste that feels nostalgic yet new.

To complete the experience, Boonchoou offers a curated list of cocktails, wines and mocktails, thoughtfully paired to complement the depth and balance of Thai flavours, and a comforting finish with baked Thai custard with local nuts – a sweet taste of home.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
