The Johnston Collection

  • Museum

Discover a secret, hidden gem in the heart of East Melbourne. The Johnston Collection house museum features an astonishing array of Georgian, Regency, and Louis XV fine and decorative arts and hosts a regular program of exhibitions, lectures and events.

Enjoy a tour of the historic townhouse, Fairhall, led by knowledgeable volunteer guides. View beautiful objects arranged in a domestic setting unfettered by ropes. This is an intimate experience, with no more than eight guests per guide. Your ticket includes tea/coffee served on delightful Wedgwood fine bone china. Tours are offered at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm and pre-booking is essential.

The house is located in a residential area so the address cannot be published, but that only adds to the mystery! Visitors are welcomed at Pullman on the Park and arrive at the museum via our courtesy bus – only a five-minute journey.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
