Tolarno Galleries presents a major exhibition of Tennant Creek Brio, a cross-cultural artists’ collective living and working mainly on Warumungu Country in the Northern Territory.
The collective was formed in 2016 and came to wider attention through inclusion in NIRIN: 22nd Biennale of Sydney, directed by Brook Andrew, in 2020.
Harnessing salvaged materials from the region’s historic mining boom, Brio transforms disparate found objects such as poker machines, streetlights, TVs, rabbit traps and original mining maps into arresting works that crackle with barely contained energy.
