Stories of Blessing: Modern Echoes of Minhwa by Minhwa Group

  • Free
  • Art

Minhwa is a traditional form of Korean folk art that flourished during the late Joseon Dynasty.

Traditionally displayed in homes to invite blessings and ward off misfortune, Minhwa is rich with symbolic motifs: peonies for prosperity, lotus flowers and ducks for vitality and harmony, and countless images conveying hopes and aspirations. Its expressive, playful style captures honesty, humor, and heartfelt desires.

This exhibition explores Minhwa’s cultural significance while presenting contemporary reinterpretations. Visitors are invited to experience the charm, symbolism, and enduring beauty of Minhwa, bridging tradition and modernity.

A celebration of heritage, creativity, and personal reflection, the show offers a moment to connect with cultural stories and timeless aspirations.

Come along to the launch on Thursday 26 February, 5.30pm to 7pm.
