Southbank Library is set within the heritage-listed former JH Boyd Girls' High School, which is now home to Boyd Community Hub, featuring artist studios, a cafe and maternal and child health services.

The library has a reader-friendly layout, similar to a bookshop, making it easy for borrowers to find their next great read. Unlike a traditional library, the non-fiction section is arranged by subject, with books clustered into popular topics such as home and lifestyle, food and drink, art and culture, and travel.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
