Scar Trees
Scar Trees speaks to the complex experience of family violence and its impacts on First Peoples communities and children.
The story follows four characters. Kirra-Lee and Byrce are at the servo. One of their phones is flat and the other has run out of credit. The jerry can is half-full.
Garren is on his BMX. The shit one. He knows all about what it can do, and its limits. He knows the tracks he doesn’t want to go down. Fightin' an’ that. He knows there’s other ways.
Uncle Laurie does his wood carving and runs a men’s group. He’s been off the grog for a while now.
They’re all trying to get to Uncle Pat’s funeral. But when they get there: what stories will be told? And what will be left unspoken?
ILBIJERRI’s social impact works present an engaging opportunity for the audience to understand transgenerational issues affecting First Peoples communities today.
Shows will be followed by panel discussions and yarning circles to reflect and share thoughts.
