Melbourne Zoo

All members and visitors must pre-book a ticket online. You will not be able to book tickets at the gate.

Over 300 species of animals can be found in the beautifully landscaped settings of Melbourne Zoo, just minutes from the central city.

Stroll through an Asian village and garden setting to see the majestic Asian elephants. See unique Australian wildlife, encounter sleek Sumatran tigers, watch orangutans swinging through the trees, or submerge in an underwater world to see Victoria’s native penguin species and Australian fur seals.

There are also interactive exhibits where visitors have the chance to learn all about the zoo's animals, the fight to save wildlife from extinction, and what visitors can do to help.

Children under 16 years of age receive free entry every weekend, during Victorian Government school holidays and on Victorian public holidays.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
