La Mama Courthouse is a cosy, intimate theatre space that has been presenting and nurturing new Australian theatre since 1967.

The theatre has given support and exposure to hundreds of actors and playwrights, including David Williamson, Jack Hibberd, Barry Dickins and Cate Blanchett.

The theatre is undoubtedly one of Melbourne's performance art treasures with a a vision to develop and support independent voices with a focus on diversity and inclusivity.

Due to the 2018 fire at La Mama Theatre on Faraday Street, performances are currently taking place at Trades Hall and La Mama Courthouse. Their administrative offices are based in the La Mama Courthouse foyer.
