Jane O'Neill: Bourke Street Leisure Centre

Void_Melbourne is excited to announce their first exhibition for 2026 with Melbourne-based artist, Jane O'Neill's Bourke Street Leisure Centre.

Please come along to celebrate the opening on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 4pm.

The exhibition is a tribute to the Fitzroy Swimming Pool in Melbourne’s inner north, reimagined through an immersive, large-scale installation. Monumental in presence, the work brings together a facsimile of the iconic Aqua Profonda sign – positioned at the pool’s depths – with a series of tiled panels crafted from repurposed denim, evoking an aerial view of the pool. Together, these elements reflect the artist’s intimate, lived perspective, drawn from her daily routine.

Bourke Street Leisure Centre is Supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
