International Impro Mini Fest: Disdance
An improvised performance full of dance, love, loss and and distance
In the last few years the word distance was filled with many new meanings, references, emotions and events. Social distancing was for some an act of responsibility, for some a painful loss, for some a bizarre relief. The pandemic related social distancing is far from being the only distancing going on - the polarisation of society is strongly shaping our lives. What can we do? We dance! We dance over and around it and within it, we sweat, we move, we live.
Directed by Rama Nicholas, this performance is full of dance and sweaty bodies dealing with the topics of being close or far away. Like in a good clubbing party, dance can help us play with social structures, twist the hierarchies, flirt with people we otherwise wouldn’t dare to, meet each other in another very physical way, playfully bring out the topics that otherwise stay under the surface, breathe deeply and live.
