Growing Place
Growing Place is a city-wide artwork that uses augmented reality (AR) to reveal Indigenous plants and ecosystems across Melbourne/narrm.
Look for colourful artwork stickers on pavements throughout the CBD and scan the QR code with your smart device to bring 3D plants to life.
Plant and water virtual seeds, watch them grow, and collect more than 30 Indigenous plant species in your digital journal.
As you explore, you'll learn about Melbourne's local plants and ecosystems.
Some artworks are easy to find, while others are hidden in unexpected places, creating a city-wide treasure hunt.
Four seasonal trails will be released over a year, beginning in September 2026, with new plants and discoveries to unlock each season.
Created by artists Joanne Mott and John Power with Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Dave Wandin, Growing Place encourages people to develop a stronger connection to nature in the city while increasing awareness and understanding of Indigenous ecology and Caring for Country.
