Friday Night Poets

  • Free
  • Talk

Enjoy a tall glass of plonk and escape the winter blues with a showcase of celebrated poets reading their most recent works. From stanza to slam to sonnet, you’ll be transported through the rambunctious and politically charged world of contemporary Australian poetry. Hosted by Tim Loveday.

The poets:

Emilie Collyer writes across forms. Her two full-length poetry collections: Do You Have Anything Less Domestic? (winner Five Islands Prize) and As If I’m Really There are published by Vagabond Press.

Eartha Davis is a woman of Ngāpuhi and Celtic heritage living on Wurundjeri land. She is the winner of the 2024 AAWP/Express Media Sudden Writing Prize and a 2026 Poetry In Action Ambassador.

Darby Hudson is an artist and poet from Melbourne and has previously been published in Best Australian Poems. More recently he's had two new books with Andrews McMeel, including the March 2026 release You're Going To Be OK: Because You're F*cked No Matter What.

Free, but bookings are essential.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
