Conquer Cancer Australia: World's Longest Relay

  • Free
  • Family and kids

Melbourne is attempting something extraordinary. Conquer Cancer Australia will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Continuous Running Relay.

Held at Princes Park, runners will take part 24-hours a day for 29 consecutive days, covering more than 6,500 kilometres. The relay is raising funds for brain cancer research at The Florey Institute and supporting children with cancer through Camp Quality.

The event is free to join, although running slots are limited. Individuals, community groups, businesses and sporting clubs are invited to participate.

Throughout the 29 days, participating groups will also host community activities including BBQs, yoga sessions and children’s activities, creating opportunities for the wider community to get involved, even if they are not running.

Each hour, a new runner or team takes the track to keep the relay alive. This is a community-driven challenge designed to bring Melbourne together.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
