The city comes alive at Christmas! Wander the streets and feel the festive cheer. Some of our favourites include the giant reindeer in Docklands, the Christmas star on Evan Walker Bridge and the popular nutcracker soldiers standing guard across the city.

Keep an eye out for giant candy canes and festive koalas. Things really start to sparkle at night with twinkling lights in trees and laneways across the city.

1. Christmas Square

Discover a Christmas wonderland featuring the city’s giant tree.

Christmas comes to life in the city with the iconic 17.5 metre tree at Fed Square. Experience the spectacular light and sound shows, a candy cane wonderland, and soak up the festive atmosphere before discovering everything the city has to offer at Christmas.

This is a Christmas Festival event, presented by City of Melbourne in partnership with Fed Square. Once again, Christmas Square lights up with 100% wind powered Christmas cheer.

2. Melbourne Town Hall Projections

Melbourne Town Hall lights up each night from 9-11pm with a vibrant festive scene.

3. Chapter House Projections

Chapter House lights up each night with an Australian backyard Christmas lunch from 2 Dec, 9-11pm.

4. Crown Christmas River Show

Until 25 Dec

Be dazzled by a spectacular water, laser and light show on the Yarra.

The spectacular river show returns to the Birrarung – Yarra River this Christmas!

Head to Yarra Promenade outside Crown to catch this dazzling Christmas show featuring water fountains, lasers, light projections and a festive soundtrack curated by renowned DJ Grant Smillie.

This event uses lasers and flashing lighting effects. Patrons with photosensitive epilepsy or other sensitivities should be aware.

This is a Christmas Festival event, presented by City of Melbourne in partnership with Crown.
