Christmas comes to life in the city with the iconic 17.5 metre tree. Experience the spectacular light and sound shows, have a swing on a giant light-up bell and soak up the festive atmosphere before discovering everything the city has to offer at Christmas.

This is a Christmas Festival event, presented by City of Melbourne in partnership with Fed Square. Once again, Christmas Square and the Christmas Projections are lighting up with 100% wind powered Christmas cheer.

The iconic building is all wrapped up with a bow and native florals. The façade gets a festive light treatment at night. Plus visit the Melbourne Visitor Hub to see the singing penguins from 2 Dec!

This year, Summer in the City will truly be out of this world. Melbourne Central have collaborated with Craig and Karl to create an immersive inflatable installation in the iconic Shot Tower.

Cosmos captures the spirit of the festive season. Suspended mid-air, the installation features colourful inflatables that evoke a cosmic landscape, right in the middle of Melbourne Central.

Craig and Karl are a duo working across design, illustration, art and installation. They collaborate daily from New York and London, creating playful work rooted in an evolving exploration of colour, pattern, shape and texture.

Get into the festive spirit with a visit to Emporium Melbourne's giant bon bon.

Standing over three metres high, this dazzling installation is an unmissable sight from every angle. Step inside to discover a stunning mirror immersion that’s perfect for capturing your ultimate festive selfie.

Whether you’re visiting for gifts, dining, or simply soaking in the holiday spirit, the giant bon bon is the ultimate photo moment to share with friends and family.

From twinkling lights to the aroma of freshly baked treats, Queen Victoria Market comes alive with holiday spirit.

Santa will be pulling up his sleigh to visit the Market, roaming the historic sheds with his trusty elf friend to wish market-goers a happy Christmas from Thursday 19 December to Tuesday 24 December, 10am to 2pm. Bring the kids along to say hi and put in their final wish lists.

Come along to the Market to marvel at the enchanting new decorations, including festive garlands, beautiful chandeliers casting a warm glow throughout the Dairy Produce Hall, while the Queen’s Food Hall sparkles with the gentle twinkle of fairy lights. At the heart of the celebrations stands the iconic Christmas tree, making its grand return alongside the beloved Santa Chair – both refreshed with an exciting new colour scheme and story.

Enjoy festive thrills on the banks of the Birrarung at the Christmas Carnival. Ride the ferris wheel, drive the dodgems or get the best view of the city lights as you spin 35 meters in the air on top of the Sky Flyer. Try your luck at much-loved carnival games and complete the experience with classic carnival food.

Entry is free. Coupons for each ride can be purchased at the ticket box on site – $8 for kids rides and $12 for adult rides.

The spectacular river show returns to the Birrarung – Yarra River this Christmas!

Head to Southbank Promenade outside Crown to catch this dazzling Christmas show featuring water fountains, lasers, light projections and a festive soundtrack. Shows will run every 15 minutes each night.

The holiday season is landing at Marvel Stadium.

The Nth Pole is the experience for family and friends to enjoy this December, with Stadium Square at Marvel Stadium transformed into a magical holiday event featuring Melbourne's only Christmas themed 360° cinema, a giant 9-metre Christmas tree of Marvel Heroes, 18 AFL club-themed Christmas trees, Santa photography with AFL club colours and much more.
