Bookish Club with Benjamin Law

In the final Bookish Club of the year, special guest Benjamin Law waxes lyrical about Edmund White’s juicy and unflinchingly honest memoir, The Loves of My Life.

Witty, stylish and relentlessly perceptive, The Loves of My Life: A Sex Memoir is Edmund White at his most candid and entertaining. An intimate autobiography of gay life and desire, it delves into the aspect of the author’s life which has inspired so many of his masterpieces: sex.

In the relaxed environment of The Moat, Benjamin Law unpacks why he loves this intelligent, erudite and unabashedly sexy read and leads a discussion about the worlds it evokes and the themes within – from the Arcadian gay debauchery of New York in the 1970s to modern gay life in the age of dating and hookup apps.

Settle in over a glass of wine and some nibbles, share your thoughts on the book and relish an afternoon of high-brow literary smut. With host Richard Watts.

Strictly for audiences 18 and older. Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
