The General Assembly

  • Bar
  • Restaurant

The General Assembly is a bar and restaurant with simple classic dishes in stylish South Wharf.

With live acoustic music on the weekends, street art adorning the walls and walls that open up wide in the summer months to let the fresh air in, this venue is a good choice to kick back and enjoy a few drinks (and with 49 beer taps, you won't have to wait long).

The menu is filled with classic dishes. Choose from the twice-cooked pork belly, the char-grilled chicken breast or the wood-roasted lamb rack to name a few.

Pride of place in the kitchen is their josper oven - an oven which allows grilling over an open flame. You could do worse than to try a steak cooked this way.

Special offer Sunset Happy Hour

Enjoy $10 wines and spritzes or $8 schooners, Monday to Friday 4pm-7pm.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
