After more than a year of WFH on and off, your tolerance for heels is probably pretty weak. The good news is that this season there are a plenty of chic flat shoe styles available. Try these looks for the office, after work drinks and everywhere in between.
For ultra comfortable shoes head to Bared Footwear in Manchester Lane. A podiatrist created the brand to ensure good alignment and soft cushioning were a top priority. This unique boot captures all the biggest trends of the season – lace-up detail, a flat sole, and military details have all featured on the runway recently. Choose basic black, or go bold with fur-trimmed grey.
The '90s style loafer
We’re seeing trends from the '90s come back in full force – but perhaps the most wearable is the '90s style loafer. This option from Merchant 1948 comes in black croc embossed leather for a chic upgrade to your outfit. Wear with mum jeans and a relaxed coat for the weekend, or a winter knit and 7/8 slacks for a casual office look.
Ballet flats with bling
Take your classic ballet flat and up the ante this winter with something that has a little more personality. Peter Sheppard’s '60s style slingback pairs spots and houndstooth with a pop of blue to deliver an excellent take on a comfortable flat. Culottes and a skivvy would be an elegant accompaniment.
Chic work shoes
Local brand Kuwaii always nails Melbourne’s sense of style, and this Camden Derby shoe in a soft blush leather is no exception. With a structural block heel and quick and easy hidden Velcro strap across the top, it combines fashion and function. Perfect with a sleek, modern suit.
Another big trend weaving its way into footwear this winter is metal detailing. When designer JW Anderson delivered a slip on featuring an oversized metal chain across the top, we saw thousands of copycats spring up. Try a distilled version to ensure your purchase is a classic – these Italian made Husk loafers are an excellent choice.
Another '90s inspired trend filtering into fashion at the moment is the platform. Elk combined a sensible flatform with a classic Mary Jane ankle strap for a ladylike take on Stella McCartney’s popular platform brogue. Throw on a flowy dress, warm coat, and a pair of these for the weekend.
Print lovers Marimekko have always delivered fun into our wardrobes, and their latest take on the sneaker is no exception. Their signature daisy print is splashed across a range of colourful sneakers. Pair them with a sleek jumpsuit for a casual office look, or jeans and a jumper to bring a little colour to your weekend.
