Sonic City: Australian Art Orchestra Four Plus One

Sonic City is a new annual event that transforms Melbourne's city centre into a vibrant hub for creative music.

Four Plus One at Block Arcade is a free concert. Hear music composed in real-time by communicating complex compositional ideas through a lexicon of hand gestures, with conductor/director Aaron Choulai and artists Lizzy Welsh, Rachel Kim, Biddy Connor and Zoe Barry.

Experience three distinct performances presented by the Australian Art Orchestra over one evening, coming up close with experimental music. Across three diverse venues within the city, Sonic City shines a spotlight on Victoria’s creative music community celebrating the artists that build the culture of our vibrant city.
