Longing for Belonging presents a dozen woodcuts by Robert Mihajlovski, created up to the year 2026.
These woodcut prints capture incidental scenes of the proximate world to explore an inner cosmos, a landscape of places and emotions. They explore inner questions within the monochromatic tone of the scenes of visible reality. Mihajlovski's woodcut approach and technique create a poetic impulse – partly in the dynamic of black and white rhythms, leaving behind trails of frail absent experiences. Both as an artist and as a poet, this intertwining creativity with figurative-abstract impressions becomes a mirror – imprecisely recording – a life journey. As an iconic mosaic they are embedded within his travels, migrations and memories that fabricate the places of spiritual belonging. Longing for belonging attempts to connect his inner self with the creative existential field.
Opening night celebration is Thursday 9 April, 5pm-7pm.
