Micca: Going Where You Take Me

Micca is a self-taught oil painter born and raised in Perth, who moved to Melbourne in 2022. With a natural inclination toward creativity, she recalls drawing as early as four years old, finding joy in learning how to capture different objects and discovering new techniques to express the visions she imagined.

Going Where You Take Me explores her inner world as she's navigated the last four years of her life as a curious Australian-Asian woman in her early-to-mid 20s. Her ideas arrive intuitively, pulled from unique and transformative experiences that shifted how she sees herself and the world around her. The ideas are executed through the art of surrealism, where imagery becomes whimsical, thought provoking, and delightfully out of the ordinary. She moves between seriousness and playfulness in both life and art, and has always been drawn to childlike cartoons and dreamlike animation.
