Melbourne Conversations: Ethics in the Age of AI

As AI systems increasingly shape access to services, employment opportunities, and civic participation, whose perspectives inform their design? This conversation examines how algorithmic bias perpetuates existing inequalities and explores what equitable AI development requires. The panel will explore regulation and governance, feminist perspectives on algorithmic culture, artistic practice and Indigenous representation.

Hosted by Triple R’s Byte into IT presenter Vanessa Toholka, join Dr Jake Goldenfein, law and technology scholar at Melbourne Law School; Dr Sam McGilp, media artist and researcher; Dr Thao Phan, Lecturer in Sociology at the Australian National University; and Dr Tamika Worrell, Senior Lecturer in Critical Indigenous Studies at Macquarie University, as they challenge accepted assumptions about who technology serves, and who gets left out.
