The Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT) is a stand-alone Australian First Peoples arts and cultural centre. It serves as a powerful space for both learning and reconciliation, deeply connected to the history and culture of the First Peoples of South East Australia.

Founded in 1985, KHT works tirelessly to ensure the rich cultural heritage, history and knowledge systems of Victorian First Peoples are valued, celebrated and an active part of society, while also encouraging the next generation to engage with and sustain these vital traditions.

KHT offers a range of experiences, such as guided Aboriginal Cultural Walking Tours. Led by a First Peoples guide, the tours provide a unique opportunity to touch and hold replica artifacts, including a possum-skin cloak, clap sticks, and a spear-thrower, while learning about their cultural significance.

KHT showcases an annual temporary exhibition program and exhibitions from its permanent Collections.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
