Home Comforts
This summer, explore 'Home Comforts' at The Johnston Collection, a house museum in leafy East Melbourne.
View exquisite fine and decorative arts in the intimate, domestic setting of an 1860s townhouse, and learn about how families lived in the 1700s and 1800s.
Experience an elegant dining room for entertaining; a nursery with dolls house and cradle; a breakfast room to enjoy luxuries such as tea, coffee, chocolate and spices; the commercial world of a gentlemen’s study; a welcoming drawing room for family entertainment; and the work of staff in the kitchen.
This exhibition also features over 50 rarely displayed, historical quilts on loan from a private collection.
All visitors enjoy tea or Market Lane coffee and a shortbread on arrival. Bookings essential.
