Block of Gold Walking Tour

  • Tour
  • Activity

Block of Gold is a 90-minute guided walking tour that explores a compact but richly layered part of the city, where grand arcades, narrow laneways and European-style cafés tell the story of Melbourne’s early ambition and enduring charm.

Created in partnership with Seniors in Melbourne, this relaxed small-group walking tour is ideal for retirees who want to explore the city at an easy pace, taking a wander through the streets and laneways that reveal Melbourne’s past.

Limited to a maximum group number of 10, the tours are led by Paul Daffey, a lifelong Melburnian, journalist and storyteller. His love of local history comes through in every step – whether he’s recounting tales from a century-old pub or pointing out a detail most people miss, Paul brings Melbourne’s characters, quirks and hidden corners to life.
