ANZ Gothic Bank Museum: Open House

  • Free
  • Tour

The Gothic Bank first opened in 1887 as the head office for the English, Scottish & Australian Bank (ES&A Bank) and is considered one of the finest examples of Gothic-Revival architecture in Australia.

The banking chamber is now the ANZ Banking Museum, featuring a range of artefacts and exhibitions from the colonial gold rush period through to modern-day banking. Other architectural features include the recently restored mosaic tiled floors, the 23-karat gold leaf stencilling on the ceiling, and the repurposed blackwood teller counters from 1887.

As part of Open House Melbourne take a self-guided tour of the ANZ Banking Museum inside the magnificent Gothic Bank chamber and discover the history of banking and more stories by exploring the Museum. Kids will especially love the money box display, featuring 200 different types of money boxes in all shapes and sizes.

No bookings required — museum capacity is limited and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
