The Nova Bar

Cinema Nova's iconic Nova Bar is located at the top of the escalators in Lygon Court, right next to the Candy Bar. Sip on a cocktail, savour a coffee and nibble on some light snacks before, after or between movie sessions. With the occasional movie bar takeover reinventing the space, there's no better place for movie-lovers and casual cinema-goers alike to relax and unwind.

The current bar takeover is inspired by Melbourne filmmaker Adam Elliot's poignant stop motion feature 'Memoir of a Snail' including displays of the hand-crafted props and characters from the film.

Previous bar-takeovers have included Yorgos Lanthimos' 'Poor Things'; Wes Anderson's 'Asteroid City' and 'The French Dispatch'; Oscar-winner 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'; 'Blade Runner 2049'; and The Hollywood Time Lounge inspired by Tarantino's 'Once Upon A Time in Hollywood'.
