Rare Midtown is the original location of Rare Steakhouse, opening in 1997. It's is located in Goldie Place, tucked away behind the Hardware Lane precinct, remaining a hidden gem of the city.

Rare champion only the highest quality products and ingredients, and work closely with local Australian suppliers, to ensure all produce adheres to the strictest sourcing standards

Each cut is aged for a minimum of 40 days to guarantee exceptional tenderness and basted whilst on the char-grill, with Rare’s signature secret baste, a cornerstone of the Rare experience since 1997.

The timeless menu, with unwavering commitment to quality and customer service, has cemented Rare's legacy as a steakhouse institution in Melbourne’s CBD.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
