Matcha Kōbō

  • Cafe

Matcha Kōbō is a handcrafted matcha house in Melbourne, dedicated to the art of authentic Japanese matcha. They use ceremonial-grade matcha sourced from Uji, Kyoto – home to Japan’s most respected tea producers like Yamamasa Koyamaen.

What sets Matcha Kōbō apart is their commitment to tradition: they’re home to Australia’s only stone mill for slow, daily grinding of matcha, preserving its vibrant colour, delicate aroma, and deep umami. Every drink is whisked to order one cup at a time – using precise control over water temperature, ratio, and technique to ensure perfect texture and flavour. Everything is made in-house, from the signature Kōbō Milk to small-batch berry jams and seasonal desserts like the Triple Matcha Tart or Hōjicha Chestnut Tart.

At Matcha Kōbō, they don’t just serve drinks, they serve craftsmanship, culture, and a moment of calm in every cup.
