  • The ornate, Victorian Gothic facade of the Melbourne safe deposit building, featuring intricate stone archways and decorative carvings.
  • The softly lit interior of Bar Privé, an intimate cocktail bar located inside the heritage-listed former Melbourne safe deposit building.
  • A classic martini garnished with an olive and a broad lemon peel twist, served in a small V-shaped cocktail glass balanced on a silver tray being carried by a waiter.

Bar Privé

  • Bar
  • Restaurant

Privé is tucked within one of Melbourne’s most storied buildings, the former Melbourne safe deposit building in the historic Gothic Bank precinct.

An extension of Reine & La Rue, Privé brings together heritage and modern indulgence through Bar Privé, a cocktail bar open to the public, and a collection of private dining rooms.

At Bar Privé, cocktails are rooted in the great drinking traditions of Europe, with a particular focus on French fortified wines, aperitifs and brandies. Here, the drinks take centre stage, creating space to explore classic serves, nuanced flavours and exceptional ingredients in greater depth, elevated by thoughtful tableside touches and a bit of theatre. Complementing the drinks is a menu of bar snacks by Reine & La Rue.

At once a standalone destination and an antechamber to Reine’s grand, cathedral-like dining hall, Privé acts as a considered counterpoint, distinct yet connected, a threshold between spaces.
