Young Writers Studio

  • Free
  • Workshop

Each session offers a supportive, low-pressure space to write, experiment, and develop creative ideas alongside others.

Led by a guest facilitator each season, the studio focuses on writing as a practice rather than a performance. Participants are invited to write in different forms with no expectation to share or produce a finished piece.

Sessions include gentle prompts, dedicated writing time, and optional conversation, creating space for both new and experienced writers to explore their voice at their own pace.

Young Writers Studio values curiosity, accessibility, and creative confidence. It’s designed for young adults who want time and permission to write.

For emerging writers, 14-25 years.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
