The Falls Before Us

  • Free
  • Family and kids

Evan Walker Bridge has vanished: dissolved in a dense mist infused with methyl jasmonate. This naturally occurring pheromone is released by plants in response to stress. Already present in the air around us, it signals forms of communication and intelligence that exist beyond human perception, yet remain deeply embedded within the world we inhabit.

This drifting signal becomes more than atmosphere, but also a return transmission from forests long past, and futures still forming. It holds the complexity of the present moment.

This work by Emily Parsons-Lord – an artist who makes visually stunning, embodied installations – explores living inside instability, where multiple crises unfold at once and things that once felt assured are now unsettled.

Part of Now or Never.
