RISING: TR/ST

  • Music
  • Entertainment

Emerging from Toronto’s 2010s cold wave revival, TR/ST started out as a duo with Robert Alfons and Austra’s Maya Postepski – announcing themselves on the scene with glitching synths and dark, hypnotising hooks. Songs that embodied the looseness of last drinks. A glance stolen through the final sputter of the fog machine.

Now a solo outfit, TR/ST’s latest album Performance is the most danceable and fully realised evolution yet. It’s industrial, dark, and sweaty. Driven by a deep throb of bass and synth that burns like an electrical storm. Trance melodies stab through the din. Robert Alfons’s processed croon rises from the crypt.

Alfrons will be here on his first trip to Australia with a mammoth live show, spanning his entire oeuvre. Set to envelop Hamer Hall.

The missing letter is ‘U’.
