Presenting a new body of work from celebrated artist Marise Maas. Seen through her distinctive personal filter, The Knot reflects on what was, for the artist, a complex 12 months.
Across light domestic scenarios, Maas captures the tangled truth of the everyday; those quiet, knotty moments of anxiety that can rise in the stomach without warning. Working with her characteristically restrained palette, spare settings and assured line-work, she builds small, precarious worlds where the familiar slips gently into the absurd. Horses (her enduring stand-ins for human presence) move through these scenes with humour and candour, carrying reflection without becoming overwhelmed.
